Dinobirds by Renum63 Dinobirds by Renum63
ArtRage painting. There's still plenty to do on this one, but I think I'll let it rest for a while now. I will update it when I know what I can do better. The overall composition is quite all right anyway.

The composition is just so amazing! This is one of my favorite pieces of Paleoart I've seen!!! Clap

May I ask, but what specific species have you depicted here? (Which Dinosaur species?)

To me, they look like they might be (if not, related to) Microraptor

Well, thanks a lot! :D (Big Grin)

I know that not everyone likes depictions of speculative species, but this is exactly what they are, although they do share some traits with Microraptors. Anyway, not least the coloration of dinosaurs, including the feathered ones, is most of the time pure guessing (I don't believe they all were more or less black, even if that seems to be the case in a few species).

Your welcome. And it is fine, I really like it when paleoartists speculate sometimes :)
Because this is perfectly plausible, great job! Clap

Are these microraptor? or are they a species from the same family?

I'm mostly working on the composition and the background, and the animals still are kind of speculative, although showing some features known from microraptor.

Ah, okay. Of course, because small dinosaurs don't fossilize as often, there could be many we don't know about.

Simply fantastic--one of the best paravian renditions I've seen in recent memory. This piece has a brilliant Peter Schouten-esque style to it, but also uniquely yours. Is it possible to view a higher-resolution version of this?

Thank you very, very much! Coming from you it means a lot. I didn't know about Peter Schoutens work so thanks for the tip. I won't ever be able to produce such a high quantity of great images, I'm no specialist, just making a series of pictures for educational purposes.

And thank you for sharing your beautiful and enlightening illustrations, together with all the informative descriptions. I should really spend more time on your page..!

For now, a higher resolution would reveal all the weaknesses of the painting, but maybe later. I let you know!

Yes please. IF this were available for print (either here or on other sites like Redbubble) I would definitely hang this on my wall! Nothing short of remarkable work, good sir.

OK, I'll keep this in mind. I could think of having a set of paintings on sale here. But I'll probably start printing (high quality giclée prints) myself (or not me personally, but our company), we'll see.

At this size, at least, I see very little that could be improved. I love the sparrow-like throat markings.

It's more in the microraptor category. A four winged dinosaur species.

Wow, it would be very interesting if this species was still alive and amomng us.
Dinobirds are intriguing in general, especially that they have both characteristics of reptiles and birds.

Yes, exactly. It's really cool and very interesting and challenging to try to figure out how they should be depicted.

Even if you say this painting is unfinished, it's already a masterpiece. The composition and the animals look not only realistic but they are properly alive and you've managed to obtain a photo-like vibe while still mantaining the properties of a 'regular' digital painting.
For all of this and even more, I must simply say Bravo. Very curious about how you'll update it, but right now it's just absolutely gorgeous.
